“In Life, It’s Not Where You Go, It’s Who You Travel With” – Charles Schulz
I've been
traveling for 7 years with the same guy. My life partner. And I will tell you
something ... There are countries, towns, beaches, shops and even football
games that would never be my first (or my tenth) choice if I was traveling
alone. But for good luck I do not travel alone. Because all the magic in traveling
with your partner is to go to places, do things, taste dishes that you will not
even know that you may like it if there was not this person to convince you of
it. Traveling with your mate can teach you a lot about yourself, your partner
and your relationship. And that's why I'll give you 10 reasons to travel with
your partner.
You share memories
One of the
best things about traveling is that create memories that accompany you for a
lifetime. If you ask me, there is nothing more beautiful than sharing the same
memories with the person sitting next to you. Because there are some travel
experiences like that sunset in Hawaii or that tropical storm in the Sri Lankan
jungle that look even more enchanting when you have someone to share them with
than when you tell them to a stranger.
Travel
strengthen your relationship
When
traveling with your partner, you have dozens of challenges, experiences and
inconveniences that will help you develop a bond that is much stronger than the
bond which is created between you two when you watching movies on the couch.
Whether you spend a night in the desert in a Bedouin tent or wander lost in a
big city like Paris, the experiences you share on your trip as a couple give
you plenty of opportunities to develop and strengthen your relationship.
Learn each other's interests
As much as
you know someone, there's always something new you can find out about him,
especially if you're traveling away from the comfort of your home. When you
spend every single minute of the day together exploring a new place, you will
see what is that makes the other happy, with what he smiles, what excites him,
what can make his eyes glow. And may, it is something that will make your own
eyes glow too even if you did not expect it.
Share your
frustration and anxiety
During
trips you will often have to face many new situations that can cause great
frustration or anxiety. I can remember a lost mobile on a train from Barcelona
to Figueres, a camera that was destroyed in Rome, an airplane arriving in
Kuwait with a 5-hour delay, while at that time we should already be in a plane
to Sri Lanka. I can remember more ... But when you are with your partner, this
frustration and stress will be halved and the problems look smaller. Anyway,
two minds are better than one.
Learn your
partner's character
They say
that if you want to test your relationship, the best way to do it is to travel.
And they are right. The trip will not always be entertaining and carefree.
Difficult and undesirable situations, accidents, illnesses will arise. All
these problems will give you the opportunity to see how your partner reacts in
difficult moments and how he handles these situations. And you will learn
things about him that might take you months in your normal life.
Increasing
intimacy between you
According
to a survey by the Travel Association, 77% of people traveling with their
partner agreed that travel has significantly increased intimacy between each
other. These couples also feel happier, while romance between them is more
intense. This is because during a trip you can see your partner as he really is
without the stress and intensity of everyday life, which will make you connect
with your mate more closely.
Learn to
make compromises
Compromises
play a big part in a happy and healthy relationship and even greater on a trip.
But in order not to misunderstand, I do not mean to abandon your own needs and
desires for someone else's sake, but to compromise in a healthy and positive
way, meaning that both of you will sacrifice something insignificant to get
something you think Important. In any case, compromises start from the moment
you start planning a trip, where and when you will go, where you will stay and
what you will eat. Through traveling, you will learn that compromises are part
of a relationship.
You save
money
Money is
quite important during the trip. When traveling with your partner, many things
will be much cheaper than if you were traveling alone. Traveling with someone
enables you to share the cost of your meal, transport, activities and hotels.
Besides, if you can manage your money on vacation, you can do it easily and
back home.
Never get
bored
And now you
think, who is bored on vacation? And yet, during your travel there will be many
such moments. There will be flights that last longer than 10 hours, there will
be stopovers, there will be endless train routes, there will be museums where
you have to wait more than 1 hour to enter. And at these moments, you want to
have next to you a partner who will make you laugh, who will tell you a story,
who will give you a hug.
Wherever
you are you feel like home
Sometimes
when we travel frequently or when we are away for a long time we may feel that
we are missing our home. Wherever you are, however, when you have your partner
next to you, you will never feel that you are missing your home. And that's
because you know your home is where your heart is and your heart is there next
to you.
Remember,
"Couples traveling together stay together".
