My trip to
Kastoria was a last minute decision. I do not know if it is happening to you,
but somewhere in the end of August, I'm a bit tired of summer photos, I don't
want to spend me weekend on the beach again, I miss my fluffy sweaters... As
the weekend was really close and I was in need of an excursion, the city of
Kastoria was the first destination that came to my mind (read more about my trip to Kastoria here).
And since
it was literally at the last minute (the day before) and I had never been to
Kastoria before, I took a look at the available hotels. I think my search
lasted about 3 minutes. And it's not that I'm an easy person, every other! But
I was so impressed with the first hotel I saw that I did not want to waste time
looking for something else.
Location
EsperosPalace Luxury & Spa Hotel is a modern and luxurious 4-star hotel in the
Chloe region, just a 5-minute drive from central Kastoria. And this is a very
positive thing, since without leaving the city center, you are in a quiet
location just a few steps from the foot of the mountain of Kastoria.
First impressions
As soon as
we entered the hotel, we were impressed by the large spaces, the high ceilings
and the beautiful decoration. If I could describe Esperos Palace in two words
that would be, simple & luxury. The staff were always smiling and willing
to help us. They gave us a map of the area with very useful information about
the city and its sights but also many food tips.
The rooms
Some of the
Esperos Palace rooms overlook the lake while others on the mountain. We stayed
in a double room on the first floor with a partial view of the lake. Our room
was very spacious while the gray color was dominant, which made a very
interesting contrast to the wooden floor. A special feature of the room was the
many mirrors that made the room look even bigger. As nice as the room was, what
was great was the bed. It was so big that for some moments I felt like I was
sleeping alone but also very comfortable! The bathroom was also quite spacious,
with free toiletries, bathrobe and slippers.
The breakfast
Before I
tell you about the breakfast, I will talk to you about the breakfast hall. I've
been bored with hotels that turn into their breakfast room their basements or
some dark rooms that do not have even one
single window. Esperos Palace's breakfast hall is a huge space with large
windows, with plenty of natural light which leads into a beautiful garden where
you could also enjoy your breakfast. Breakfast was rich in both sweet and salty
flavors, with fresh fruit, croissants, cakes, apple pie, various jams, eggs,
sausages, cold cuts and various cheeses.
The restaurant
Atrium,
hotel's bar - restaurant, was the place that impressed me most. It is the first
place that the visitor sees after the reception, in the way to the rooms. And
when we entered the glass elevator to get into our room, the spectacle was even
more impressive. What I loved was the glass ceiling that allowed the light to
come in ample and create a great geometry in the space. I rarely sit in hotel
restaurants, however we chose to spend our last night in Kastoria at Atrium and
I recommend you to visit it even if you stay somewhere else.
The Spa
And the
best part? All guests staying at the hotel have free access to the Esperos
Palace Spa, which includes a heated pool, sauna, turkish bath and gym. One of
the reasons I am happy to visit Kastoria this season is because if I was in
this hotel during the winter (I hope I will do it sometime!), I wouldn't see
the city since I wouldn't left this Spa for any reason.
